What's actually on the CDA exam?
Three exams bundled together. General Chairside (95 questions), Radiation Health and Safety (75 questions), and Infection Control (75 questions). 245 questions total.
How long is the CDA exam?
195 minutes if you sit for all three at once. General Chairside is 75 minutes, Radiation Health and Safety is 60, Infection Control is 60.
What does it cost to sit for it?
$450 for the bundled application fee, paid to DANB directly. That's separate from anything Toothly charges.
Who's eligible to take it?
Infection Control and Radiation Health and Safety have no eligibility requirements, anyone can register for those two. General Chairside needs either a CODA-accredited program or 3,500 verified hours of work experience.
What's on the Infection Control exam?
Four domains, per DANB's outline: preventing disease transmission (20%), preventing cross-contamination (34%), instrument and device processing (26%), and occupational safety protocols like the OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Standard (20%). No eligibility requirements to sit for it, which is why Toothly is building that question bank first.
